Hope Has a Name — And She Lives in Sierra Leone

Thursday, July 2, 2026

Her name is Tara.

She was born to a mother who had already buried too many children. A mother who loved so carefully she could not risk naming this new baby — not yet. Not until she was sure.

But a baby named Tara is alive in Sierra Leone today.

She is the first child named after Freedom Tree's founder. And she is proof — living, breathing, growing proof — that intervention works. That showing up matters. That a clinic in the right place at the right time can rewrite a story that was heading somewhere dark.

Hope is not always loud. Sometimes it is a mother, finally, quietly, whispering a name.

Sometimes it is a baby looking up at the world for the first time in a place that was built to receive her.

Sometimes it is a founder standing in a room in Canada saying — I met a baby named after me in Sierra Leone. And I need your help to make sure the next one makes it too.

That is what Freedom Tree is doing.

One name. One birth. One school. One life at a time.

And every time someone gives — every time someone shares, donates, shows up — another name becomes possible.

What name will yours make possible?

Give today. Help write the next story.
